What: District "E" Councilmember Cynthia Willard-Lewis and District "D" Councilmember Cynthia Hedge-Morrell will co-host the 4th Annual Candlelight Vigil in New Orleans East this coming Saturday, in honor of the residents who have chosen to come back to New Orleans East and help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina, and in memory of those who are unable to return. The event is open to the public. Councilmember Willard-Lewis said, "We understand the many obstacles the residents of New Orleans East have gone through the past four years, and on Saturday we would like to have a vigil in hopes to leave the past behind us, and look toward a better and brighter future. We want to give a very special thanks to Mary Queen of Vietnam and their Youth Department who will supply music for the event."
"The residents of New Orleans East have shown incredible resilience and determination over the last four years," said Councilmember Cynthia Hedge-Morrell. "This vigil will celebrate the ongoing recovery of New Orleans East, as well as acknowledge the struggles of those who are back, and those who are still trying to come home."
